The Emerald Tablet, a citadel and a sun with a face

Two more plates from Heinrich Khunrath's Amphitheatrum Sapientiae Aeternae join Esoterica: the Emerald Tablet, its text carved into the side of a mountain, and a walled citadel. Three hand-coloured charts by Andreas Cellarius join The Night Sky, among them the Copernican universe, whose sun has a face, and a diagram of the sizes of the heavenly bodies.

Also new: two Haeckel plates, Trouvelot's star cluster in Hercules, and two prints of Levinus Vincent's cabinet of curiosities in Haarlem, one of the great Dutch collections of the early 1700s.
